Here is an opportunity to join McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, an Oshkosh Company, as an Industrial Painter. In this role, you will apply paint and other coatings using electrostatic and air-assist paint guns on company products, including military-spec equipment. You will work with automotive-type paint application devices, ensuring every item meets strict quality and safety standards. The pay range is $20.00 to $28.34 per hour, with infrequent overtime, weekend, or shift rotation required. What You Will Be Doing
- You will prime, paint, and touch up vehicles using power spray equipment and brushes.
- You will flush tanks, hoses, and guns prior to color changeovers to prevent contamination.
- You will mix all types of paints to achieve proper color, formula, conditions, viscosity, and consistency.
- You will perform titrations and mix or adjust chemicals as needed.
- You will maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and proper 6S standards.
- You will demonstrate best practices by following all safe procedures in assembling and testing products in your assigned job function.
- You will perform upkeep of your work area and equipment, including preventative maintenance tasks.
- You will inspect products before, during, and after the paint process to ensure specifications are met.
- You will sand, wash, and condition parts as necessary, and perform light bodywork when required.
- You will inspect completed parts for quality and validate that components meet standards.
- You will assist in training new team members on processes and equipment functions.
- You will participate in onboarding and annual training related to hazardous waste handling as required by EPA RCRA rules.
- You will disassemble, clean, repair, adjust, and reassemble painting equipment as needed (repairs required only in Dodge Center).
- You will apply decals, stencils, and rust-proofing as required (Dodge Center only).
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Six months of industrial painting experience, OR completion of an internal paint training program, OR an evaluated equivalent.
- Ability to read checklists, paint codes, safety logs, JSAs, SWIs, and other documentation.
Standout Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Automotive paint experience.
- Willingness to train in multiple areas to obtain Painter II level.
- Ability to proficiently paint in a single assigned area.
- Ability to perform mill checks and readings and assist with paint prep (Riceville only).
- Ability to perform fine line painting technique (Riceville only).
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and others, including explanation of information and gathering factual data.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform work of a relatively routine nature.
- Physical ability to perform frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
