Key Responsibilities
As the primary technical point of contact, you will own the service process from diagnosis to resolution, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Act as the primary service front, receiving repair requests from assigned customers and coordinating all aspects of the response, including parts logistics and cost analysis (warranty vs. chargeable).
- Travel to customer sites, including construction machinery manufacturers, to perform advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on Cummins diesel engines using specialized tools and documented procedures.
- Lead repair operations, establishing the best course of action and providing work direction and technical coaching to apprentice or junior technicians on-site.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on engines and related components to ensure long-term reliability.
- Complete all post-service documentation accurately, including service reports, timesheets, and warranty claims, using company-specified systems and forms.
- Identify additional service or sales opportunities while building and maintaining strong, productive customer relationships.
Qualifications
We are looking for a seasoned professional with significant hands-on expertise and outstanding customer management skills.
Must-Have Experience and Skills:
- Significant field service experience with expert-level knowledge of engine systems and products.
- Proven ability to perform complex diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance following technical manuals.
- Strong customer service background with the ability to build relationships and manage service requests proactively.
- Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
- A valid local driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal apprenticeship training as an Engine Technician.
- Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior team members.
- Japanese language proficiency is required for customer and team interactions in Western Japan.
