Key Responsibilities

You will perform a full range of dental assistant duties to support the clinic’s operations and provide excellent patient care.

  • Provide chair-side assistance to dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, ensuring efficient patient flow and clinical support.
  • Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in strict compliance with infection control and universal precaution protocols.
  • Manage patient records with accuracy and timeliness using automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, and Essentris, adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
  • Actively participate in the command’s Performance Improvement and Risk Management programs, attending required meetings and training.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations, follow established clinic protocols, and maintain a safe, compliant practice environment per Joint Commission and Navy standards.
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications, including being fit-tested to wear an N-95 respirator for aerosol-generating procedures.

Qualifications

This position requires specific credentials and experience to meet U.S. government contract standards.

Must-Have Education and Credentials:

  • You must have one of the following: (a) a CODA-accredited Dental Assisting certificate/degree, (b) graduation from a state-accredited dental assistant program, or (c) certification from a Red Cross Dental Assistant course.
  • You must also meet one of these experience requirements within the preceding 60 months: 12 months of experience with military “A” school certification, 12 months with Red Cross certification, 36 months in a private practice or military clinic, OR current membership in good standing with the American Association of Dental Assistants with 12 months of experience.

Required Clearance and Status:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain a required T3 security clearance.
  • Must provide two professional letters of recommendation from a manager or direct supervisor within the last two years.

  • Competency in basic computer skills for documentation and clinic systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a structured military healthcare team.
