Key Responsibilities
As a Farm Hand, you’ll have a varied role that supports both our agricultural production and guest experiences.
- Assist with daily chores for our small livestock and help maintain observation bee hives.
- Support the care of over 2,000 apple trees, grape vines, and a half-acre market garden through planting, weeding, irrigating, and harvesting.
- Help cultivate, plant, and harvest u-pick pumpkins, flowers, and maintain our seasonal crop maze.
- Assist with building and maintaining farm infrastructure like fences and irrigation systems.
- Support the larger agritourism operation on select days with activities like hay wagon rides, facility upkeep, and maintaining displays.
Qualifications
We are looking for motivated individuals who are ready for active, outdoor work and have a positive attitude.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- The ability to perform manual labor for 8-hour days, including lifting 50 lbs and working in all weather conditions with proper gear.
- A strong willingness to learn new skills, such as tractor operation, animal care, and various cultivation techniques.
- Experience working with your hands in an outdoor environment.
- The ability to work effectively both independently on tasks and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required, but a Plus):
- A genuine interest in considering farming as a career path, with a particular curiosity about apple cultivation.
- Prior experience working on a farm or with tractors.
- Unique talents like mechanical skills, irrigation knowledge, animal care, or construction.
- A good academic record and positive past work experience.
