Key Responsibilities
You will be central to the hovercraft production process, taking projects from the workshop floor to the water. Your primary duties will include:
- Building hovercrafts to exact specifications, handling all aspects from initial structural assembly through to final interior and exterior fit-out.
- Installing, precisely aligning, and testing propulsion systems, including engines and their supporting mechanical and hydraulic components.
- Reading and accurately interpreting detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical schematics to guide your work.
- Performing rigorous quality checks at every build stage to ensure structural integrity, safety, and optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues that arise during the installation and fitting process.
- Collaborating effectively with engineering and design teams to refine build processes, solve challenges, and meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
This role requires a strong foundation in marine construction and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven, hands-on experience as a Boatbuilder, with specific expertise in vessel fit-out and assembly.
- Proficiency in working with materials like fiberglass, composites, and metals.
- Demonstrated skill in marine engine installation, alignment, and testing, with a working knowledge of marine electrical and plumbing systems.
- The ability to read and work from complex technical drawings and documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, a meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic workshop.
Advantageous Experience:
- Knowledge of hovercraft or similar unconventional marine vessel construction.
- Experience building medium-sized vessels and familiarity with advanced composite construction techniques.
