Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for producing high-integrity weldments that meet rigorous specifications. Your key duties include:
- Performing expert MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum in all positions, adhering to AWS, ASME, and NAVSEA codes.
- Reading and interpreting complex blueprints, weld symbols, and NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) symbols.
- Performing material preparation, setup, and fit-up to meet precise process requirements.
- Conducting visual inspections of weldments to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Troubleshooting processes and resolving most technical issues independently, referring only the most complex problems.
- Maintaining all welding equipment and adhering to strict safety protocols, including PPE requirements and WHMIS.
- Serving as a resource and mentor to other team members and participating in continuous improvement (LEAN, Six S) activities.
Qualifications
This senior role requires a candidate with proven expertise and the following qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional welding experience, with extensive proficiency in MIG and TIG processes on various metals.
- Must be able to qualify for and perform welding to AWS, ASME, and NAVSEA standards.
- Strong ability to read technical drawings and work from complex written instructions with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Experience with inspection processes (in-process, final, source) is a significant asset.
