Key Responsibilities
As an Endoscopy Technician II, you will manage complex technical tasks and provide essential support during life-saving procedures. Your daily mission includes:
- Assisting physicians and RNs with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures, including ERCP, EUS-EBUS, and emergency GI interventions.
- Managing ancillary practices such as Small Bowel Capsules, Motility Tests, and Carbohydrate Breath Tests.
- Taking full responsibility for the specialized care, handling, and high-level disinfection of endoscopy procedural equipment.
- Acting as a Quality Assurance Auditor to ensure all staff are practicing at the highest level of scope cleaning and hygiene ability.
- Assisting with critical unit audits, including polyp tracking and hand hygiene, while serving as a primary preceptor for new staff.
- Emergency Readiness: Managing independent weekday, weekend, and holiday on-call duties to support unpredictable patient needs.
Qualifications
We are looking for a seasoned clinical professional who embodies the Mayo Clinic values of excellence and accountability.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 1+ year(s) of direct GI experience or equivalent hospital healthcare background.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be maintained.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and electronic applications like Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt to unpredictable clinical situations.
- Must meet advanced criteria, such as being a primary preceptor or having experience independently managing GI bleed and foreign body removal calls.
