Key Responsibilities
Workers will perform a variety of essential tasks under supervision to ensure the successful growth and harvest of our tomato crops. Key duties include:
- Performing all phases of greenhouse crop work: preparing rockwool/peatmoss, planting new crops, and conducting regular maintenance such as lowering plants, de-leafing, and harvesting.
- Carefully harvesting various tomato varieties to ensure quality and minimize damage to the plants and fruit.
- Loading and unloading plants and materials from trucks and carts; hanging and adjusting plant support strings and wires.
- Maintaining greenhouse systems, including cleaning gutters, checking irrigation lines, and replacing drippers.
- Supporting our integrated pest management program, which includes working around bee hives used for pollination (must be non-allergic to bee stings).
- Strictly adhering to all food safety protocols (SQF rules), sanitation procedures, and COVID-19 guidelines, including the proper use of provided protective clothing and equipment.
- Assisting with greenhouse cleanout activities and operating or cleaning specialized equipment (CMM machines) as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates must satisfy the following requirements to be considered:
- A minimum of three months of verifiable prior agricultural employment; experience on a vegetable or greenhouse farm is strongly preferred.
- Physical capability to repeatedly lift, bend, twist, and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a greenhouse environment with exposure to extreme temperatures and must have no fear of bees and be non-allergic to bee stings.
- Must be able to follow detailed instructions, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and maintain high standards of accuracy and cleanliness.
- Must pass a post-hire, employer-paid drug test and background check.
- Must be eligible and qualified for the H-2A seasonal agricultural worker program.
