Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be the technical cornerstone for our growing Wellington EV fleet. Your key duties will include:

  • Performing advanced diagnostics, fault-finding, and repairs on high-voltage and low-voltage vehicle systems, including complex CAN bus and control networks.
  • Carrying out scheduled preventive maintenance and implementing critical system updates to ensure fleet performance and safety.
  • Providing on-site field repair support and assisting other regional workshops with remote diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborating closely with our specialist EV Engineering team in Auckland to roll out electrical upgrades and continuous improvements.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in strict compliance with electrical safety standards, company procedures, and high-voltage safety protocols.
  • Maintaining precise documentation and providing clear, effective communication with operations and engineering teams.

Qualifications

We are looking for a qualified professional who meets the following criteria:

  • A Level 4 Certificate in Automotive Electrical Engineering or Heavy Automotive Electrical is essential.
  • Proven experience with heavy vehicle or plant electrical systems; prior EV or high-voltage experience is a significant advantage.
  • Strong technical proficiency in diagnostics, CAN bus systems, wiring, and electrical fault analysis, with the ability to interpret wiring schematics and execute tests from drawings.
  • An unwavering commitment to safe working practices and the ability to meet all high-voltage safety and compliance standards.
  • A self-sufficient and reliable work ethic, capable of managing your workload autonomously with remote support from engineering experts.
  • Must hold a current work visa, residency, or NZ citizenship and be willing to travel regionally as required.
