Key Responsibilities
Your primary duty is to ensure safe and timely transportation, but the role often goes beyond just driving. Your key tasks will include:
- Safely operating a home van or bus to transport Veterans to and from external medical appointments, whether across town or on highways, during day or night hours.
- For Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs): Providing necessary Veteran care during transport and at appointment locations, which may include assistance with transfers, repositioning, meals, hygiene, and safety oversight.
- Coordinating and scheduling transportation for medical appointments in an efficient manner.
- Offering protective oversight and companionship to Veterans while they are in your care outside the facility, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and reliable vehicle, performing pre- and post-trip inspections as required.
- Serving as a friendly, respectful, and professional representative of the Missouri Veterans Home in all interactions.
Qualifications
We are looking for a responsible individual with a valid driver’s license and a deep sense of duty. The successful candidate will have:
- A current Missouri Class E (or above) driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- A dependable, patient, and compassionate attitude, with a genuine desire to serve the Veteran population.
- The ability to follow schedules and protocols meticulously while adapting to the day’s needs.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Valid Missouri certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medication Technician (CMT). Candidates with these certifications will have an expanded care role and are strongly encouraged to apply.
