About the Role
This is a vital trades position within the construction industry. As a Rebar Worker, you will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings and physically assembling the steel skeletons that give concrete its tensile strength. Your precision and skill directly contribute to the safety, durability, and integrity of buildings, bridges, and other critical infrastructure. Your Key Responsibilities
Your day will involve translating plans into physical structures with accuracy and efficiency. Key duties include:
- Accurately reading and interpreting construction blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine rebar/mesh placement, quantities, sizes, and shapes.
- Preparing reinforcement materials by cutting, bending, and welding rebar using tools such as metal shears, hacksaws, torches, and benders.
- Positioning and securing rods, mesh, and rebar assemblies within concrete forms according to specifications, ensuring proper spacing and alignment.
- Fastening rebar intersections securely using pliers and tie wire.
- Installing post-tensioning cables as required by the project plans.
- Maintaining tools and equipment, and adhering strictly to all job site safety protocols.
The Skills And Experience You Bring
To be successful in this trade role, you should have:
- Proven experience as a Rebar Worker, Ironworker (Rodman), or in a similar concrete reinforcement role.
- The ability to read and understand construction blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with trade-specific tools (shears, benders, torches) and techniques for cutting, bending, and tying rebar.
- Physical fitness and stamina for demanding manual labour, including lifting, bending, and working at heights or in various weather conditions.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and attention to detail.
- A team-oriented mindset and the ability to work efficiently to meet project timelines.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., welding, fall protection) are a strong asset.
