Key Responsibilities
Your primary duty is to be a safety-first professional and a positive presence for students. Your day will include:
- Safely operating a school bus along designated routes, ensuring the timely and secure pick-up and drop-off of students.
- Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure all safety systems are fully operational.
- Maintaining a calm, respectful, and safe environment on the bus, managing student behavior with clear communication and patience.
- Providing kind and attentive assistance to all students, including those with special needs or mobility challenges.
- Communicating clearly and professionally with school staff, dispatchers, and parents regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.
- Adhering to all traffic laws, district policies, and health and safety protocols, including any relevant health guidelines.
- Keeping the bus interior clean and reporting any maintenance issues immediately to ensure vehicle reliability.
Qualifications
We are seeking individuals who are committed to safety and service. The ideal candidate will have:
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- A patient, responsible, and caring attitude with a genuine concern for the safety of children.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students of all ages.
- The ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening as required.
Preferred Experience (Not Required to Apply):
- Prior experience as a school bus driver, in commercial driving, or in paratransit services.
- Experience working in childcare, education, or similar settings.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for performing vehicle safety checks.
