TIG Welder Wanted In Singapore

We are looking for a skilled Welder to join our fabrication and maintenance team serving the oil and gas sector. You will work on pressure-containing components, structural supports, and process equipment that must meet strict client specifications and international code requirements. This is not structural ironwork or general shop fabrication. You need to understand welding procedure specifications, work to tolerances, and produce beads that pass visual and NDT inspection consistently. If you hold relevant certifications and take pride in code-quality work, this role offers the environment, equipment, and respect your skill level deserves.

Company Overview

We are a established fabrication and maintenance contractor serving the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas sectors. Our work includes pressure vessels, piping spools, structural steel, and modular assemblies for both greenfield development and brownfield retrofits.

Unlike high-volume production shops, we operate with engineering oversight, formal quality control systems, and third-party inspection hold points. Our welders are expected to follow approved WPS, select appropriate parameters, and produce work that meets ASME, AWS, or client-specific standards. We invest in certified, skilled tradespeople and retain those who consistently deliver quality. If you are looking for technically demanding work with a company that recognizes the difference between a structural tack and a code-quality root pass, you have found it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, or GTAW processes on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials per engineering specifications and approved WPS.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, isometric sketches, and welding symbols to determine joint configurations, weld sequences, and acceptance criteria.
  • Set up welding equipment, including power sources, wire feeders, torch assemblies, and gas regulators, to parameters defined in qualified procedures.
  • Select appropriate filler metals, shielding gases, and tungsten electrodes based on base material, joint design, and process requirements.
  • Inspect base materials prior to welding for cleanliness, fit-up, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform visual inspection of completed welds for penetration, bead profile, fusion, surface discontinuities, and conformance to drawing call-outs.
  • Operate grinding equipment, cutting torches, and plasma arc tools for joint preparation, beveling, and post-weld finishing.
  • Maintain welding equipment in good working order, performing routine maintenance and reporting malfunctions promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including hot work permits, confined space procedures, proper use of PPE, and compliance with site-specific HSE requirements.
  • Collaborate with fitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel to resolve fit-up issues and meet production schedules.
  • Participate in ongoing welder qualification testing as required to maintain certification status.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in compliance with company 5S and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid welding certification appropriate to the processes and positions required (6G, 3G, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of verifiable welding experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in at least two of the following processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, or GTAW.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication isometrics.
  • Working knowledge of weld defect recognition and visual inspection acceptance criteria.
  • Physically capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions for extended periods, including at height and in confined spaces.
  • Own basic welding hand tools and PPE; company provides heavy equipment and consumables.
  • Valid work authorization.

Preferred:

  • ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, or API 1104 code qualification.
  • Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome-moly alloys.
  • Previous work in both shop fabrication and field installation environments.
  • CSWIP, CWB, or equivalent welding inspector certification is an asset but not required.
  • Safety certifications (H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Confined Space, CSTS) are an advantage.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive compensation 423$ per week commensurate with certification level, experience, and demonstrated capability.
  • Code-quality work environment. You will weld to procedures, not guesswork, with proper equipment and consumables provided.
  • Technically demanding projects. Pressure-containing components, critical process equipment, and inspection-ready quality standards.
  • Recognition of skill. Certified welders with 6G capability and oil and gas experience are valued and compensated accordingly.
  • Stable, long-term employment with a contractor serving the resilient oil and gas sector.
  • Opportunities for upskilling and additional certification endorsements.
  • Safety-first culture. PPE, training, and protocols are enforced, not optional.
  • Collaborative team environment with fitters, supervisors, and engineers who respect quality work.

How to Apply

If you are a certified welder with oil and gas experience and a track record of producing code-quality, inspection-ready welds, we want to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and clear copies of your welding certification(s) and any relevant safety tickets through the application portal or contact details provided in the job posting.

In your cover letter or email, please include:

  • Your years of experience in the oil and gas industry and the types of projects/components you have welded.
  • Your certified processes and positions (e.g., 6G SMAW, 3G GMAW, etc.).
  • Your availability and expected compensation.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a practical welding assessment and technical interview. Be prepared to demonstrate your skill and discuss your experience working to code requirements and passing visual or NDT inspection.
