 Key Responsibilities

Your work will directly support the critical early stages of shellfish growth in our nursery. Key daily duties include:

  • Assist with all aspects of nursery operations to set, grow, and maintain oyster and clam seed throughout the year.
  • Perform routine tank cleaning and maintenance to ensure a healthy environment for shellfish development.
  • Clean, screen, and grade shellfish seed by size, a repetitive but crucial task for managing growth cycles.
  • Handle and move shellfish stock and materials, which may involve pushing wheelbarrows and lifting items (up to 50 lbs. independently or 100 lbs. with assistance).
  • Work effectively both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of the farm team.
  • Communicate clearly with the Operations Supervisor and other staff regarding daily progress and any issues.

Qualifications

We are looking for a reliable, physically capable individual who is a good team player.

Must-Have Abilities and Traits:

  • The physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting, on uneven, gravel terrain for full shifts.
  • A self-motivated and organized work style, with the ability to carry out repetitive tasks with care and attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work one weekend day as part of the regular weekly schedule.
  • Must provide your own housing and reliable transportation to the farm site.

Preferred Experience:

  • A background in farming, aquaculture, fisheries, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience with manual, repetitive tasks in an outdoor setting is a significant advantage.
